Martha Dana has been a local story teller and puppeteer for over 30 years. She has always crafted and hand-created all of her life like characters. Martha has preformed in our library as well as in Portsmouth, Exeter, Newburyport and beyond.
The assemblages on display at the Salisbury Public Library are a continuation of Martha's fascination with character and invented narrative making true the adage that all art is a storyteller. This current cast is made out of recycled materials gathered from forests, beaches, dumpsters, used building materials and auto parts.
Luckily, Martha, now retired from puppeteering, continues to enjoy making characters whose quirky images remind us all of our own secret pleasures, typical avoidances, fears and fantastic dreams.
