Enjoy classic cars, classic 1960s music, and a friendly British Invasion in downtown Newburyport at the 4th Annual ?Cruisin? the ?50s,? a free festival on Thursday, August 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sponsored by ?The Legends? WNBP Radio, St. Jean?s Credit Union, and the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, this annual event brings car enthusiasts, lovers of design, and families to stroll streets lined with more than 200 hand-selected vehicles and closed for pedestrians only. Visitors can get up close to inspect classic cars from across New England on State, Pleasant, State, Unicorn, and Inn Streets along with the Harris Street Parking Lot and the Patrick Tracy Square. The rain date is Aug. 20, 2015. ?We are in our fourth year and really have the rhythm down to make this a first-class celebration,? explains Carl Strube, general manager and co-owner of WNBP. ?We will have dancing in Market Square and a free outdoor concert by The Transistors, who are back by popular demand, as well as a live on-air broadcast by WNBP.? Local retailers, restaurants, businesses, and galleries are offering promotions for the event.
